Who this is for / skip

For you if: you already own a winch and you want to replace the hook with a Factor 55 shackle mount for a D-ring or soft shackle.

Skip this page if: you need a winch, a fairlead only, or a soft shackle alone. Skip if you came for WARN VR EVO or Smittybilt winch cards — those live on the winch and recovery page. Skip side-loading the shackle; keep the load in line with the pin.

Soft shackle (pair with the mount)

Factor 55 Standard Duty soft shackle 00069
Credit: Factor 55 — soft shackle aside, not a FlatLink or ProLink product shot

Factor 55 Standard Duty soft shackle 00069 — connector with printed WLL on the winch and recovery guide. Use it with FlatLink or ProLink for closed-link rigging — it is not a third mount card here. Soft-shackle numbers live on /best-winch-and-recovery-gear/.

The ones that matter

A winch hook swings and can snag. A shackle mount holds a shackle or soft shackle on center at the fairlead. FlatLink folds flat for approach angle and packed height. ProLink stays fixed with a thicker shackle tab.

Same max load

Both cards print 16,000 lb max load. Geometry and packed height are the real axis — not a strength contest on that cell.

Folding vs fixed

FlatLink folds to less than 1.75 in thick. Factor 55 says that gives a better approach angle than ProLink. ProLink is the original fixed mount with a 1.2 in shackle tab meant to cut shackle rattle.

Rope and fairlead

Both work with steel or synthetic rope and do not need splicing. ProLink’s page names rope up to 3/8 in and hawse or roller fairleads. Confirm your rope eye and thimble fit the pin before you toss the hook.

Side load

Keep the pull in line with the mount. Side-loading a shackle is how recovery hardware fails early. Factor 55’s common-sense line for this class: do not side-load.

Hook vs shackle mount vs soft shackle

Three SKUs get mixed in cart searches.

Winch hook. Comes on many winches. Swings, snags, and is open on one side.

Shackle mount (this page). FlatLink or ProLink replaces the hook so you run a shackle or soft shackle on center.

Soft shackle. Soft fiber connector with its own WLL. It is not a mount. Pair it with FlatLink or ProLink; buy the soft shackle numbers from the winch and recovery page.

Warn Epic fairlead and other fairlead-only parts are not on this compare table. They change how the rope exits the winch. They do not replace FlatLink or ProLink.

Closed-system winching in plain words

Factor 55’s Closed System Winching language means closed-link hardware end to end — mount, shackle or soft shackle, strap — instead of an open hook. That is a technique claim, not a second load rating. Your weakest printed working number still rules the recovery.

Pick: folding, lower profile

Folding FlatLink approach angle

For the folding hook replacement with Factor 55’s lower packed profile.

  • Part 00050-01. Max load 16,000 lb (working number on this page — not ultimate failure)
  • Folds flat; folded thickness less than 1.75 in. Weight 23 oz. 6000-series aluminum
  • Titanium double-shear pin and snap ring. Steel or synthetic rope. No splicing. EPDM rubber guards for alloy fairleads
  • Maker wording: lower profile and a better approach angle than ProLink. Shop ASIN B00K284SJE

Drawback: same 16,000 lb max load as ProLink — not the stronger pick on that cell. Confirm fairlead clearance when folded. Do not treat FlatLink’s ultimate-failure line greater than 40,000 lb as WLL.

Pick: fixed original

Fixed ProLink original mount

For Factor 55’s original fixed shackle mount and the thicker shackle tab.

  • Part 00015-01. Max load 16,000 lb. Weight 24 oz. 6061-T6 billet
  • Shackle tab thickness 1.2 in. Titanium double-shear pin and snap ring
  • Steel or synthetic rope up to 3/8 in; thimbles up to 3/8 in. Hawse or roller fairleads
  • Shop ASIN B00QQNKPE6 (sticky Shop on this page)

Drawback: fixed geometry — no fold for packed height. Same 16,000 lb max load as FlatLink. Confirm bumper and winch-plate clearance with a shackle installed. Do not side-load.

Both mounts print 16,000 lb max load. Geometry and packed height are the compare axis. No prices. Confirm rope eye and fairlead before you buy.

Fitment, do this

Universal to the winch rope eye and fairlead class Factor 55 lists — not a truck year SKU. Confirm rope diameter, thimble, and fairlead type. Confirm the mount clears the bumper and winch plate when FlatLink is folded and when ProLink is fixed with a shackle installed.

Shop by truck

These mounts are winch-rope / fairlead class, not year-make SKUs. Soft shackle connector stays on the winch guide. Winch itself stays on the winch guide.

Soft shackle 00069 is a chip to the winch guide — not a third Shop card on this page. Shop /dp/ buttons above are FlatLink B00K284SJE and ProLink B00QQNKPE6.

Skip these

A winch sold as a shackle mount.

A soft shackle sold as FlatLink or ProLink.

A fairlead-only part sold as a hook replacement.

Calling FlatLink or ProLink stronger than the other when both print 16,000 lb max load.

Side-loading the shackle.

Treating FlatLink ultimate failure greater than 40,000 lb as the working number. Use the 16,000 lb max load printed for both mounts.

Install notes

Pull the hook. Seat the rope eye in the FlatLink or ProLink. Install the titanium pin and snap ring per Factor 55. Fit the EPDM guards so they protect the fairlead and cut rattle. Stow FlatLink folded when you want the lowest profile. Recheck the snap ring after the first pull.

FAQ

What is the best winch shackle mount?

Factor 55 FlatLink 00050-01 if you want a folding lower-profile mount. Factor 55 ProLink 00015-01 if you want the original fixed mount. Both print 16,000 lb max load.

Is FlatLink stronger than ProLink?

No on the max-load cell. Both print 16,000 lb max load. FlatLink’s advantage on Factor 55’s page is folding profile and approach angle, not a higher max load.

Does this replace my winch?

No. It replaces the hook on a winch you already have.

Can I use a soft shackle with these?

Yes — that is the closed-system path Factor 55 describes. Soft shackle 00069 numbers live on the winch and recovery page.

Will it fit roller and hawse fairleads?

ProLink’s page names hawse or roller. FlatLink ships with EPDM guards for alloy fairleads. Confirm your fairlead before you order.

What about ultimate failure over 40,000 lb on FlatLink?

That is not the working number on this page. Use the 16,000 lb max load printed for both mounts.
