B&W Turnoverball: Best Gooseneck Hitch for Trucks

Gooseneck puts the coupler over the rear axle in the bed. Fifth-wheel uses a different head over the rails. Weight-distribution hitches live on the rear receiver. Keep those pages separate.

Turnoverball’s story is the square-shank ball that locks for towing and flips to clear the bed. That is the daily advantage versus a ball that stays proud in the bed.

Ball GTW vs truck rating

GNXA2000’s 30,000 lb GTW / 7,500 lb VTW and GNXA2025’s 40,000 lb / 10,000 lb are ball ratings. An F-150’s gooseneck tow rating is almost always lower. Tow to the lowest published limit among truck, hitch hardware, and trailer.

Fifth-wheel on the same rails

Gooseneck (this page). Ball in the bed over the axle. Coupler drops onto the ball. Turnoverball flips the ball when empty.

Fifth-wheel. Plate or jaws over the bed rails / underbed base. Different head, different trailer. Start on the Companion / fifth-wheel page.

Receiver ball mount. Two-inch (or larger) rear receiver for bumper-pull trailers. Not a gooseneck. Weight-distribution is a different page.

B&W’s GNRK1121 page excludes dual-exhaust trucks along with Tremor, Lightning, Raptor, and 2019–2020 Limited. Measure tips and frame rails before you assume a “same year F-150” kit fits. Wrong kit means wrong brackets.

A gooseneck ball that stays up eats bed space and catches straps. Turnoverball’s flip-over design is for daily drivers who still haul pallet freight or coolers when the trailer is home. Confirm the flipped ball sits flush enough for your bed mat, CargoGlide, or toolbox overhang before you drill.

Gooseneck trailers put serious vertical load on the bed. GNXA2000’s 7,500 lb VTW and GNXA2025’s 10,000 lb VTW are ball vertical ratings. Match trailer pin weight and truck payload. Payload includes people, fuel, and gear in the cab — not just the trailer sticker.

Match year and exhaust. Dual-exhaust F-150s are out on this kit’s page. Tremor, Lightning, Raptor, and 2019–2020 Limited are out. Other trucks use other B&W Turnoverball kit numbers — do not force GNRK1121 onto a different frame.

Underbed brackets are truck-specific. Follow B&W’s sheet for GNRK1121. Expect bed and frame work. Torque to the sheet. Flip the ball and confirm it locks before the first loaded trip. Recheck after the first loaded miles.
