2027 Silverado 1500 Is Real — Chevy Still Hasn’t Published Power, Towing, or Price
Chevrolet revealed the next-gen 2027 Silverado 1500 on June 16, 2026, with new 5.7L (L76) and 6.6L (L78) V8s, an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax now on a 10-speed, and the 3.0L Duramax — but it has not released horsepower, torque, towing, payload, or MSRP. GM Authority (August 22, 2026 — not Chevrolet) says comprehensive specs land September 17 and pricing September 18. Chevrolet itself: on sale at the end of 2026; availability and MSRP announced later this year.
The truck is the story. The numbers are not out yet. Do not treat a dealer whiteboard, a forum guess, or a comment-section joke as a spec sheet. TruckDaily is not publishing fake horsepower or tow ratings ahead of mid-September. If you need a comparable sheet versus F-150 or Ram this week, that is a 2026 conversation — not a 2027 order.

- Eric Stafford, Car and Driver, June 16, 2026 — power figures under wraps; three cab styles and three bed lengths. Not OEM dimensions. C/D also wrote that Z71 is standard on four-wheel-drive models. Chevrolet’s wording is narrower: Z71 is standard on Silverado 4WD (the trim formerly called LT). This page follows Chevrolet, not C/D’s broader “all 4WD” claim.
- Mike Deslauriers, GM Authority, August 22, 2026 — not Chevrolet-published. GMA says specs September 17, pricing September 18. Engine codes L76 (5.7) and L78 (6.6) are GMA’s. Comment-section joke prices on that post are not used here.
- GMC newsroom, June 25, 2026 — sister 2027 Sierra 1500. Same four engines, all with a 10-speed; six trims (Pro, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate); Denali Ultimate standard 6.6L; 16.3-inch center screen. No extra Sierra horsepower, tow, or MSRP on this page.
- Jonathan Lopez, GM Authority, April 4, 2026 — not OEM. GMA: next-gen Silverado HD / Sierra HD aimed at 2029, with production planned for the fourth quarter of 2028. The 2027 light-duty redesign is not an HD redesign.

TruckDaily take
The truck is the story. The numbers are not out yet. Do not publish fake horsepower or tow ratings before September 17–18.
Who it's for. People watching America’s No. 2 seller get a new skin, new small-blocks, and a cleaner seven-trim ladder — and who can wait until Chevrolet actually prints horsepower, tow, payload, and MSRP. Off-road shoppers who already know they want ZR2 (35-inch MT, e-lockers, Multimatic DSSV) or Trail Boss / Custom Trail Boss (34-inch MT, 2-inch lift) without needing a pound rating today. Fleet buyers scanning Work Truck for the new screens and the V8 story, not a 2027 order form.
Who should skip. Anyone about to order a 2027 on dealer vapor numbers. If a salesperson is quoting horsepower, a tow rating, a payload, or an MSRP that Chevrolet has not published, that is not a spec sheet. Skip if you need an apples-to-apples comparison versus F-150 or Ram this month. Skip if you were shopping RST, LTZ, or LT Trail Boss by those names — those labels are gone from the 2027 list. Skip if you thought the 2027 HD was part of this redesign; GMA says it is not.
What we'd actually buy. We would not buy a 2027 Silverado 1500 until Chevrolet publishes the numbers. Wait for the spec dump GMA flags for September 17 and the pricing GMA flags for September 18 — then pick a trim and engine against a real sheet. If you need a comparable spec sheet versus F-150 or Ram now, buy a 2026, not a 2027 built on blanks.
The truck showed up. The numbers did not.
Chevrolet called the 2027 Silverado 1500 the most powerful and most advanced Silverado ever, then declined to say how much power, how much it tows, how much it hauls, or what it costs. That is not a hole in the coverage. That is the coverage. The June 16 newsroom post is a trim-and-hardware reveal with a class claim on the 6.6L V8 that still sits on unpublished GM estimates.
Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet: “With the Next-Generation 2027 Silverado 1500, we’re taking that legacy forward by building the most capable, refined and advanced Silverado lineup we’ve ever offered.” Mark Dickens, executive chief engineer, said the new V8s went through an extensive testing and validation process for durability and towing. Neither quote includes a horsepower figure, a pound rating, or a sticker.
Expected on sale at the end of 2026. Built at GM’s full-size truck assembly facilities in North America. Engines assembled at Flint Engine Operations, Tonawanda Propulsion, and St. Catharines Propulsion. Those are the factory facts Chevrolet did publish. Everything a shopper uses to beat up an F-150 window sticker is still a blank.
GM Authority reported August 22 that comprehensive vehicle specifications — engine output, towing and payload, dimensions and weights — are due September 17, with pricing the next day, September 18. That calendar is GMA’s, not Chevrolet’s. Chevrolet only said availability and MSRP come later this year. Treat Sep. 17–18 as a reporter’s date, then wait for the newsroom to actually post the numbers.
Four engines. Zero published horsepower.
Chevrolet kept a four-powertrain lineup:
- 1. Enhanced 2.7L TurboMax — Chevrolet’s best-in-class standard torque claim (excludes other GM vehicles; based on latest competitive information). Newly paired with the 10-speed automatic.
- 2. 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel — Chevrolet still calls it segment-exclusive.
- 3. New 5.7L V8 (L76) — next-generation small-block. Displacement is Chevrolet’s. The L76 code is GMA’s. No published output.
- 4. New 6.6L V8 (L78) — Chevrolet: most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class. Footnote: based on GM-estimated horsepower and torque. Class is half-ton gasoline and diesel pickups. Excludes other GM vehicles. The estimates themselves are not in the release. The L78 code is GMA’s.
The 5.3L and 6.2L V8s are not on that four-engine list. Car and Driver described the 5.7 and 6.6 as replacing the old 5.3 and 6.2. GMA framed the same swap against the outgoing L84 / L87. Chevrolet did not print a “5.3 is discontinued” line; it printed a 2027 menu that does not include them.
Do not back-fill the 6.6L class claim with a competitor’s published horsepower. Chevrolet did not give you the number that makes the claim true. When the newsroom posts it, the table on this page updates. Until then the cell is Not published.
Seven trims. RST and LTZ are off the board.
Chevrolet collapsed the 2027 ladder to seven: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado (formerly LT), Trail Boss, ZR2, High Country. Three of those are lifted — ZR2, Trail Boss, and Custom Trail Boss — which Chevrolet said is a response to demand.
What is not on the list: RST, LTZ, and LT Trail Boss. GMA treats those as dropped after 2026. LT becomes the trim actually named Silverado. If a dealer is still pitching a 2027 RST or LTZ, they are selling last year’s vocabulary.
Work Truck is the fleet tool — Chevrolet’s language is uptime, upfits, and interiors that clean easy. Custom is the value rung with dual exhaust and 20-inch Technical Gray machine-faced wheels. High Country is the flagship: exclusive Tritan Satin grille, standard 22-inch After Midnight machine-faced wheels, a Silverado-first panoramic sunroof, real wood, two interior themes (light and dark). ZR2 Bison remains an AEV collaboration (AEV bumpers, rocker protection, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, extra skid plates). None of that substitutes for a tow rating.
Z71 is standard on Silverado 4WD — not “every 4WD.”
This is the easy one to get wrong, because Car and Driver wrote that Z71 is now standard on four-wheel-drive models. Chevrolet’s sentence is specific: for customers selecting Silverado 4WD, the Z71 package will now be standard, with skid plates, hill descent control, and off-road suspension.
Silverado here is a trim name, not the whole pickup. Do not copy C/D’s broader “all 4WD” claim onto Work Truck 4WD, Custom 4WD, or High Country 4WD. Chevrolet did not write that. When the order guide lands with the specs, the package map will either confirm the narrow wording or expand it. Until then, quote the OEM.
ZR2 and Trail Boss: the hardware Chevrolet did publish
ZR2 is still the off-road flagship. Chevrolet listed:
- 35-inch mud-terrain tires
- 2-inch lift
- Dedicated off-road hood with an enhanced power dome
- Standard front and rear e-lockers
- Multimatic DSSV dampers paired with jounce dampers
Interior: Torch Red accents, Torch Red-edged seatbelts, forged carbon-fiber trim on the doors and console (Chevrolet: first true carbon décor on ZR2 and GM’s first forged-carbon application). That is a lot of kit. It is still not a published ground-clearance, approach-angle, or tow number.
Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss share the attainable lift: 34-inch mud-terrain tires and a 2-inch factory lift. Trail Boss gets the dedicated off-road hood and two interior themes. Custom Trail Boss is the cheaper door into the same 34-inch / 2-inch stance. Chevrolet did not split a unique tire or lift figure between those two; it split content.
Screens on every truck. Super Cruise with a trailer on some.
Every 2027 Silverado 1500 gets a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch driver information center, standard. Chevrolet calls the center screen class-leading (measured diagonally). ZR2 and High Country add an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, a head-up display, and a rear camera mirror — Chevrolet’s “over 60 inches of digital displays” package, also measured diagonally.
Available dual wireless charging and a reconfigurable Multi-Flex center console are in the release. Physical knobs for volume and climate are a C/D observation, not an OEM spec on this table. High Country’s panoramic sunroof is a Chevrolet first for Silverado.
Super Cruise with trailering: Chevrolet claims it is segment-exclusive — no other competitor in class offers a hands-free system with trailering capability. Standard on High Country and ZR2. Available on Silverado and Trail Boss. Chevrolet footnotes: Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change are not available while trailering; Super Cruise still needs an active plan or trial after the included period (Chevrolet: three years of OnStar One to support it). Hands-free towing is a real differentiator if you live on compatible roads. It is not a substitute for a published max conventional rating.
Cab and bed: C/D and GMA, not Chevrolet
Chevrolet has not published 2027 cab configurations, bed lengths, or exterior dimensions. Car and Driver reported three cab styles and three bed lengths. GM Authority expects Regular, Double, and Crew because the truck sits on a revised T1 platform, and GMA is “not expecting much change” in measurements.
Those are reporter expectations. They are not OEM dimensions. Regular vs. Double vs. C/D’s “quad” wording is exactly why this page will not freeze a cab list until Chevrolet prints one. Same rule for bed lengths. Same rule for wheelbase.
Sister Sierra, and the HD that is not this truck
Nine days later, June 25, GMC revealed the 2027 Sierra 1500. Same four engines: enhanced TurboMax, Duramax, new 5.7L, new 6.6L, all with a 10-speed. Six trims: Pro, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate. SLE and SLT are not on GMC’s list. Denali Ultimate gets a standard 6.6L V8. The 16.3-inch center screen is in the Sierra cabin too — GMC calls it largest-in-class on Denali Ultimate (measured diagonally). GMC also held detailed technical specifications for later. This page is not inventing extra Sierra horsepower, tow, payload, or MSRP.
The 2027 light-duty redesign is not a 2027 HD redesign. GM Authority (April 4, 2026) says next-gen Silverado HD and Sierra HD are aimed at the 2029 model year, with production planned for the fourth quarter of 2028. That is GMA sourcing, not a Chevrolet newsroom date. If you need a new HD, you are not shopping this reveal.
FAQ
When will Chevrolet publish 2027 Silverado 1500 specs and pricing?
Chevrolet has not named a day. The June 16 newsroom post says availability and MSRP will be announced later this year, with the truck on sale at the end of 2026. GM Authority (August 22, 2026) — not OEM — says comprehensive specs on September 17, 2026, and pricing on September 18, 2026. Do not treat those GMA dates as Chevrolet-published. Wait for the newsroom. Do not publish fake horsepower or tow ratings before Sep. 17–18.
Are the 5.3L and 6.2L V8s gone?
They are not on Chevrolet’s 2027 four-engine list. The published menu is 2.7L TurboMax, 3.0L Duramax, new 5.7L (L76), and new 6.6L (L78). Car and Driver and GM Authority describe the 5.7 / 6.6 as replacing the outgoing 5.3 / 6.2. Chevrolet did not print output for the new V8s.
Should I wait for the 2027 or buy a 2026?
Wait if you want the new truck and a real spec sheet — mid-September, if GMA’s calendar holds and Chevrolet actually posts. Buy a 2026 if you need published horsepower, tow, payload, and MSRP to compare against F-150 or Ram before you sign. Do not order a 2027 on dealer vapor numbers.
Is Z71 standard on every 4WD 2027 Silverado?
No — not on the OEM wording we have. Chevrolet said Z71 is standard for customers selecting Silverado 4WD (the Silverado trim, formerly LT): skid plates, hill descent control, off-road suspension. Car and Driver broadened that to four-wheel-drive models. This page does not copy that broader claim. ZR2, Trail Boss, and Custom Trail Boss have their own published off-road hardware; that is not the same sentence as “Z71 on all 4WD.”
Is Silverado HD redesigned for 2027?
The 2027 reveal is the light-duty 1500. GM Authority says next-gen HD is aimed at 2029, not 2027. Attribute GMA. Chevrolet did not fold HD into the June 16 1500 newsroom post.
What about the sister Sierra?
GMC, June 25, 2026: same four engines, all on a 10-speed; six trims — Pro, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate. SLE and SLT are not on that list. Denali Ultimate is standard 6.6L. 16.3-inch center screen. GMC also has not published horsepower, tow, payload, or MSRP.
