Ford is recalling 47,587 trucks — certain 2021–2023 F-150 and 2023–2026 F-250 Super Duty models equipped with 8-inch SYNC infotainment — because a software error may leave the home-screen menu covering the rearview camera image when you shift into Reverse. This is an obstructed-image compliance recall, not a blank-screen story. Distinct from Ram campaign 26V560, where the rearview image may not display at all. That is why the population fails FMVSS 111.

The remedy is software-only: update the APIM, free, at a dealer or over the air. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were expected around August 17, 2026. Additional letters once the remedy is ready were anticipated in September 2026. VINs have been searchable since July 31, 2026 — ahead of the mailbox.

Until the update

2. Before Reverse, close the camera / home menu so the overlay is not sitting on the image.
3. Use exterior mirrors every backup — do not stare only at a partially covered screen.
