Buying guide
CURT’s A20 fifth-wheel fits long-bed GM HD trucks with puck prep. Super Duty owners get Ford’s drop-in gooseneck; B&W’s Turnoverball fits GM HD beds.

For you if: the trailer is a fifth-wheel or a gooseneck, you will match bed length and prep before you click, and you will use the lowest rating in the chain — truck, hitch, ball or head, and coupler. You want one of three jobs: a puck-mount fifth-wheel head with both numbers listed, a Ford drop-in gooseneck ball with both numbers listed, or an under-bed Turnoverball whose kit rating is not published and whose limit is the truck plus the ball you actually install.
Skip this guide if: you want a receiver hitch or a weight-distributing hitch. Also skip if the truck has no fifth-wheel prep and you were about to order the CURT or Ford kit. Those two need the prep. B&W does not. Skip a short bed on CURT 16092. Skip CarbonPro on GNRK1020. Skip drop-in bedliners, sportliners, and bed mats on the Ford kit. Skip treating a prep package as a 27,500 lb hitch.
20,000 lb GTW. 5,000 lb vertical load. Not labeled pin weight. Example part 16092. 2020–2026 Silverado and Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, 8-foot bed with fifth-wheel prep.

02 · OEM gooseneck, Ford Super Duty prep
27,500 lb gross trailer weight rating. King pin weight must not exceed 4,125 lb. Example part LC3Z19F503A. Requires prep PC3Z5F057A. Prep rating not published.

03 · Under-bed gooseneck
Fits 2020–2026 Chevy and GMC 2500 and 3500. Not CarbonPro. B&W does not publish a kit GTW on GNRK1020. Get the two-box kit GNRK1020, not the mount box alone. The kit rating is not the 3 inch ball rating. Over 30,000 pounds, B&W says use 3 inch ball GNXA2025 — that ball rating is not the kit spec.
These are example kits, not every truck. A Ford puck kit is not this CURT part. A Ram puck kit is not this CURT part. A 40,000 lb Ford gooseneck is not LC3Z19F503A.
The coupler decides the hitch. A fifth-wheel trailer has a kingpin that locks into a head. A gooseneck has a coupler that drops over a ball. You cannot put a fifth-wheel kingpin on a Turnoverball and call it done. You cannot put a gooseneck coupler on an A20 head.
Every maker here says, in different words, that the limit is the lowest-rated part. CURT lists it on 16092: capacity limited to the lowest-rated towing component. B&W’s manual points the Turnoverball at what the truck is rated to tow, and then says stay at or under the hitch, the coupler, and the truck. Ford lists a hitch-kit GTWR and a king pin cap. The door sticker and the tow guide still apply. A max-tow brochure number is not the hitch rating, and the hitch number is not the truck rating.
GM and Ram factory puck-prep packages did not list a hitch rating on the OEM materials used here. Ford’s prep kit, PC3Z5F057A, lists the crossmember, brackets, hardware, and a bed-mount 7-pin harness. It does not list GTW, pin weight, or kingpin. The 27,500 and 4,125 figures belong to the hitch kit, not the prep.
CURT 16092 is an A20 head plus GM puck legs. It drops into the factory puck system. It is not an under-bed kit and it is not industry-standard rails. CURT lists installation height 13 to 17 inches. That is height, not weight. CURT says each truck and trailer is different and you need cab clearance when you turn. Long bed only. 8-foot bed. Fifth-wheel prep already in the truck. This kit does not include the prep.
CURT’s 16092 materials also name legs 16024 and 16029. The hitch you are buying, 16092, still lists 20,000 and 5,000. Legs 16029 list 25,000 lb GTW and say weight capacities are limited to the lowest-rated component. The standalone head 16540 also lists 20,000 and 5,000. The head alone is not this kit.
Other A20 puck kits exist for Ford and Ram. They are not 16092. Skip ordering this Silverado part for an F-250.
LC3Z19F503A is a drop-in ball, installed and removed from inside the bed, with two cast-steel safety-chain loops and a storage case. Available for 6.75 foot or 8 foot beds. Requires the prep. Cannot be used with drop-in bedliners, sportliners, bed mats, and the same class of bed covering Ford names. When the ball is out, the load floor is flat.
Ford’s title on this kit is a gooseneck hitch. One Ford sentence also says “Gooseneck 5th-Wheel Hitch Bar.” The product is still the gooseneck kit with a 2-5/16 inch ball. It is not a fifth-wheel head. Ford sells a separate fifth-wheel hitch kit, PC3Z19D520A, 8-foot bed only, 20,000 lb GTWR and a 3,000 lb pin weight rating. That is not this pick. Those numbers are not for LC3Z19F503A.
The 40,000 lb kit is a different part, PC3Z19F503A, DRW only, and it lists its own tongue line: 5,500 lb for the 27.5K ball and 8,000 lb for the 40K ball. Those tongue figures stay on the 40K kit. The Ford pick here is the 27,500 kit and its 4,125 lb king pin line.
SRW versus DRW is not published on the LC3Z19F503A text used here. The 40K kit is the one that says DRW only. That DRW-only line belongs on the 40K kit, not this one. Match the chart for your Super Duty.
GNRK1020 is two boxes: mounting kit GNRM1020 and center GNRC920. It is not a puck hitch. Per what B&W published for this kit, it does not need the factory prep. You cut a 4 inch hole. From the rear edge of the bed, the install sheet puts that hole at 45-5/16 inch on an 8-foot bed and 37-1/8 inch on a bed shorter than 8 foot. Safety-chain U-bolts need four 11/16 inch holes. The latch handle is in the driver-side wheel well. The kit comes with a 2-5/16 inch ball. The trailer coupler has to be 2-5/16 inch if you use that ball.
CarbonPro beds are excluded. A plastic bed liner can be cut through with the bed, and spray-in thickness has to be added when you measure. That is on the install sheet. A short-bed ban is not published. A cab-clearance warning is. SRW versus DRW is not published.
The SAE J2638 line in the manual is the scope of the standard, up to 30,000 lb, not a rating for this kit. B&W did not list a 25-percent figure for this truck.
The Companion fifth-wheel can plug into a Turnoverball socket. That is a separate hitch. Companion ratings stay on the Companion hitch, not this gooseneck kit.
For a fifth-wheel on a long-bed Silverado or Sierra HD with factory pucks.
Catch: Long bed only. 8-foot bed. Requires GM fifth-wheel prep. The kit does not include the prep.
Check CURT A20
For a Super Duty that already has the prep, and you want the kit Ford rates itself.
Catch: Not the 40,000 lb DRW kit PC3Z19F503A. Skip that kit’s 5,500 and 8,000 tongue figures here.
Check Ford gooseneck hitch kit
For a 2020–2026 Chevy or GMC 2500 or 3500 when you will install an under-bed gooseneck.
Catch: CarbonPro excluded. Ball ratings are not the kit spec. Companion is a separate hitch.
A blank means the maker did not list the figure. Skip filling it from another part. No prices here.

Match the trailer first. Kingpin means a fifth-wheel head. Coupler over a ball means a gooseneck. Then match the truck, the bed, and the prep.
GM 2500 HD and 3500 HD, 2020–2026, 8-foot bed, fifth-wheel prep: CURT 16092 is the fifth-wheel pick here. The same trucks, including a bed that is not CarbonPro, are the Turnoverball fitment if you want a gooseneck and you will cut the bed. They are not the same install.
Ford Super Duty, 2020–2026, prep already in the truck: LC3Z19F503A is the gooseneck kit with the listed 27,500 and 4,125. Confirm 6.75 or 8 foot. Confirm the bed is not a drop-in liner, sportliner, or bed mat. If you need a fifth-wheel head on a Ford, that is a different Ford kit. Not the CURT part here.
Prep without a hitch: PC3Z5F057A is mounting hardware and a 7-pin harness. No published rating. The prep alone is not a hitch — skip towing on it.
F-150: a Class IV or Max Trailer Tow receiver number is not a fifth-wheel or gooseneck rating. An F-150 fifth-wheel prep was not published as an OEM puck product on Ford’s pages for these kits. Skip Super Duty or Silverado HD kits for a half-ton.
Ram: A 2026 Ram puck-prep rating is not published on these parts. An older owner’s-manual chart does not cover these three hitches.
Our pick is the B&W Turnoverball two-box kit. CURT and Ford kits are worth checking on their own sites. Match year, bed, and prep before you buy.
A receiver rating used as a fifth-wheel or gooseneck rating. Different hitch. Different number.
CURT 16092 at 25,000 lb because legs 16029 say 25K. The hitch lists 20,000 lb GTW and 5,000 lb vertical load.
Ford prep at 27,500 lb. Those numbers are the hitch kit. The prep kit does not list them.
The 40,000 lb Ford kit’s tongue line on the 27,500 kit. 5,500 and 8,000 belong to PC3Z19F503A. This pick’s king pin line is 4,125.
A B&W kit GTW of 30,000 or 40,000. B&W does not list that spec on GNRK1020. The 30,000 pound line is the point where B&W says to change balls. The 40,000 and 10,000 figures are the 3 inch ball. The 30,000 and 7,500 figures are the 2-5/16 inch replacement ball.
Companion fifth-wheel ratings on the Turnoverball. Separate product.
CarbonPro, drop-in liners, and the wrong bed length. CarbonPro is out on GNRK1020. Drop-in liners, sportliners, and bed mats are out on the Ford kit. Short beds are out on CURT 16092.
These picks are fifth-wheel versus gooseneck, using one puck fifth-wheel, one OEM gooseneck ball kit, and one under-bed gooseneck. Silverado, Sierra, and Super Duty are the charts those parts name. They are not the only trucks that tow a fifth-wheel. They are the trucks these three kits name. Skip 16092 on a Ford. Skip LC3Z19F503A on a Silverado.
No dollar amounts here.
The hitch only works if the latch is fully engaged and the safety chains are on the loops the kit includes. Stay at or under the lowest rating in the chain. For CURT 16092 that published vertical figure is 5,000 lb. For the Ford kit, king pin weight must not exceed 4,125 lb. For the Turnoverball, B&W did not list a vertical number on GNRK1020. Skip inventing one. Clear the bed of a drop-in liner before you use the Ford kit. Measure the B&W hole from the rear edge of the bed, and add spray-in thickness. Cab clearance is a turning problem, not a parking-lot problem. If the fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailer can hit the cab, it is the wrong bed or the wrong hitch height for that trailer.
A fifth-wheel trailer needs a head that locks a kingpin. Here that is CURT A20 16092, and only on a 2020–2026 Silverado or Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD with an 8-foot bed and fifth-wheel prep. A gooseneck needs a ball and a coupler. Ford LC3Z19F503A is the drop-in ball with a listed 27,500 lb GTWR. B&W Turnoverball GNRK1020 is the under-bed gooseneck whose kit does not list a GTW on GNRK1020.
Part 16092: 20,000 lb gross trailer weight and 5,000 lb vertical load. That vertical figure is not labeled pin weight. The hitch is not 25,000 lb just because related legs 16029 list 25,000 lb.
Part LC3Z19F503A: 27,500 lb gross trailer weight rating. King pin weight must not exceed 4,125 lb. The prep package required to install it does not list a rating.
B&W does not list GTW, vertical load, or pin weight on GNRK1020. B&W says the Turnoverball is rated to tow what the truck is rated to tow. Over 30,000 pounds, B&W says use the 3 inch ball GNXA2025. Ball ratings are not the kit spec.
No. Ford’s prep is the under-bed crossmember, brackets, hardware, and a 7-pin harness. No published GTW. CURT 16092 requires the GM puck prep and does not include it. You still buy the hitch.
Not these parts. The A20 is a fifth-wheel head. The Ford kit and the Turnoverball are gooseneck balls. Companion is a separate B&W fifth-wheel that can use a Turnoverball socket. It is not this Turnoverball pick.
Not these kits. A half-ton receiver rating is not a fifth-wheel or gooseneck rating. An F-150 OEM puck prep was not published in Ford’s materials for these kits.
