2027 Silverado EV Ditches CCS for NACS and Cuts RST
The 2027 Silverado EV gets a native NACS inlet (SAE J3400), CCS1 is deleted, and 4LT and RST are gone. That is order-guide reporting via GM-Trucks, August 5 (guide dated July 31); Chevrolet has not issued 2027 EV press.
Seven configs remain: Work Truck, LT, and Trail Boss, each by battery. Supercharger access without an adapter is the buy reason. RST is a 2026 closeout. Shop leftover 2026s, or wait. 2027 MSRP is Not published.

TruckDaily take
Native NACS is the buy reason. RST is a 2026 closeout. This is still an order guide. Chevrolet has not issued a consumer 2027 EV press release and has not published 2027 MSRP.
Who it's for. Anyone who was going to live on Tesla Superchargers and was tired of hanging an adapter off a CCS1 fender. Fleet and retail shoppers who can live with Work Truck, LT, or Trail Boss — those are the only 2027 rungs. Tow shoppers who want the guide’s 12,500-lb Extended Range cell and can wait for a real window sticker. Anyone who can sit until Factory Zero turns the 2027 on (GMA: October 12).
Who should skip. RST and 4LT shoppers. Those trims are not on the 2027 sheet. Buy leftover 2026s, or wait for a different truck. Skip if you need a published 2027 MSRP this week — it is Not published. Skip if you need a published 2027 EPA range. Skip if a salesperson is quoting last year’s CCS1 truck as a 2027. Skip treating GMA’s October dates as a Chevrolet newsroom calendar; they are GMA’s, and GMA itself called them tentative.
What we'd actually buy. We would not sign a 2027 until Chevrolet publishes MSRP. If Supercharger access without an adapter is why you are in this truck, the order-guide native NACS (SAE J3400) is the reason to wait for 2027 — LT 3LT Extended Range if you want the 12,500-lb tow cell and the 645 / 765 Wide Open Watts numbers, Trail Boss 3TR Max Range if the 725-hp / 350 kW top of the chart is the point. If RST, 4LT, or Stars & Steel is the truck you actually wanted, buy a leftover 2026. That trim is a closeout, not a 2027 option.
An order guide, not a Chevrolet press release
GM-Trucks published the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV order guide on August 5, 2026, from a document dated July 31 — the same week Chevrolet quietly opened the books on the 2027 Colorado and 2027 Canyon. Unlike those two, this is not a colors-and-wheels year. The charge port flips. Two trims leave. The rest of the truck is still a Dual Motor 4WD crew cab with a 5-foot-11 bed.
That split matters. Option codes, deleted RPOs, and the seven-model ladder are document-backed in the guide as reported. They are not a Chevrolet newsroom spec sheet. Power, torque, tow, payload, and DCFC in the table above are order-guide via GM-Trucks, not Chevrolet press. 2027 MSRP is Not published.
GM Authority, June 7, 2026 — months before the guide moved — said 2027 regular production is scheduled for October 12, 2026, with 2026 production expected to end October 9. Dealers could enter the 2027 in the GM ordering system starting August 6; first official order submissions September 3. As of this article’s date, that submission window is now. GMA also said those dates remain tentative. Attribute the calendar to GMA, not to a Chevrolet production press release.
Native NACS is the first real 2027 EV change
For 2027, the Silverado EV gets a native NACS inlet — SAE J3400, the Tesla-style connector — instead of the CCS1 port it launched with. Plugging into a Tesla Supercharger no longer requires the adapter dance. The included Dual Level Charge Cord (PSC) now ends in a J3400 vehicle connection too.
You can see the flip in the accessory list. The old NACS DC Adapter (RYU) and NACS Level 2 Adapter (RYH) are deleted because the truck no longer needs them. In their place are adapters that point the other direction, described in the guide as intended for NACS-native inlet vehicles:
- (RYK) GM J1772 AC Adapter — non-NACS Level 2 home and public chargers
- (RYW) GM CCS1 DC Adapter — CCS1 fast-charge stations, and vehicle-to-home discharging through the GM Energy PowerShift Charger
- (RYN) GM PowerShift AC Charging Adapter — pairs the truck with the bidirectional PowerShift home charger
Chevrolet bundled those into three dealer-installed packages so a buyer does not have to puzzle the combinations:
- (PEB) Level 2 and Fast Charging Adapter Package — J1772 AC + CCS1 DC
- (PEC) Charging Essentials Package — both adapters + GM PowerUp 2 NACS home charger (11.5 kW)
- (PED) Premium Charging Package — both adapters + GM Energy PowerShift bidirectional charger (19.2 kW) + PowerShift AC adapter
DC fast-charge capability itself carries over by battery in the guide: up to 220 kW on Standard Range, 300 kW on Extended Range, 350 kW on the 800-volt Max Range pack. Those kW figures are order-guide via GM-Trucks, not Chevrolet press.
GMA had already flagged native NACS as the likely 2027 change back in June, tying it to GM’s broader 2027 NACS move across Lyriq, Blazer EV, Bolt, Vistiq, and others. The order guide is the document that puts the inlet on this truck. Supercharger access without an adapter is why a 2027 EV order is different from a 2026 CCS1 leftover. That is the story. Paint is not.
Goodbye 4LT. Goodbye RST.
The lineup gets simpler. The 4LT trim and the RST — including its Stars & Steel package — are both gone. What remains is a clean seven-model spread: Work Truck, LT, and Trail Boss, each defined by battery choice.
That is a sharper fork than a color swap. If you want an RST, a 4LT, or Stars & Steel, a 2026 on a dealer lot is the only path in this document, and closeout pricing on a leftover works in your favor in a way a blank 2027 MSRP cell cannot. The 2027 does not bring those trims back as a package code. Do not let a salesperson “build you an RST” on a 2027 order screen. The guide deleted it.
Every 2027 Silverado EV remains a Dual Motor 4WD crew cab with the 5-foot-11 short bed. There is no regular cab, no double cab, no 6-foot-6, no 8-foot in this order-guide coverage. Shop the truck that is actually on the sheet.
GVW shuffle, same big tow — still order-guide numbers
The guide flags gross-vehicle-weight changes for 2027. The headline capability numbers hold: up to 12,500 pounds of towing on Extended Range models and up to 2,350 pounds of payload on Standard Range trucks. Those cells are order-guide via GM-Trucks, not Chevrolet press.
GVWR now runs from 9,900 pounds on the 4WT to 10,500 on the Trail Boss 3TR. A new 9,650-pound GVWR (C9X) applies to the 4WT when equipped with the ST0 Custom Package. The Trail Boss 2TR also picks up an available 10,500-pound GVWR with the Plus or Premium package, which bumps its maximum payload to 2,100 pounds.
Work-truck shoppers who live on payload should read the Standard Range 2,350-lb cell and the 4WT C9X 9,650-lb GVWR as two different builds, not one slogan. Tow shoppers who need 12,500 lb need Extended Range in this guide, not Standard Range.
Four colors in. Four colors out. Equipment creeps up.
Blue Smoke Metallic (GAI), Magnus Gray Matte Metallic (GBL), Riptide Blue Metallic (GJV), and Slate Gray Metallic (GNO) are discontinued. Replacements: Pacific Blue Metallic (G4M, WT and LT, extra charge), Storm Gray Metallic (GEC, all trims — same paint GM-Trucks flags on 2027 Colorado as Storm Gray and 2027 Canyon as Dark Ridge), Dark Matter (GNW, Trail Boss only, extra charge), and Lagoon (GXE, Trail Boss only). White Sands (G42) is now available on LT. Habanero Orange (GAG) is now available on Work Truck. Polar White Tricoat stays Trail Boss only. Summit White stays WT and LT. Black stays on all trims.
A few items that used to cost extra, or were not on the truck, are now standard in the guide: (UCV) Interior Camera on every trim, enabling Cabin Glance and Security Recording; (KAM) heated driver and front-passenger seats standard on Work Truck; (DX6) upgraded outside mirrors — heated, power-adjustable, power-folding, driver-side auto-dimming, perimeter lighting, memory — standard on LT and Trail Boss 2TR. Teen Driver changes RPO from TDA to TDM. Same feature, new code.
Paint and heated seats are not why you wait for 2027. Native NACS is.
Buy a leftover 2026, or wait on a 2027 with no published price
This is the shopper fork.
Wait for 2027 if the charging network the truck will live on for the next decade is the one built into the fender, not one hanging off an adapter. Native NACS (SAE J3400) is that change. GMA’s production start is October 12, 2026, with 2026 builds ending October 9. First official 2027 order submissions were dated September 3 on GMA’s June calendar. Waiting still means waiting for Chevrolet to publish 2027 MSRP. An order guide with no consumer press release is not a price sheet.
Buy a 2026 if you want RST, 4LT, Stars & Steel, or one of the four discontinued colors. Those are closeout trucks. Closeout pricing on a CCS1 leftover can beat a 2027 you cannot sticker. The 2026 is also the truck that still exists on lots while Factory Zero finishes the outgoing year (GMA: through October 9).
Do not split the difference by pretending a 2027 RST exists, or by inventing a 2027 starting price so the wait looks cheaper. Chevrolet has not published 2027 Silverado EV MSRP. TruckDaily is not going to either.
VIN footnote: 26V496 steel wheels (2026, 952 units)
A related 2026 campaign: NHTSA 26V496, GM number N262556920. GM is recalling certain 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV vehicles. A manufacturing defect may result in steel wheels cracking at the disc vent holes. A cracked wheel may lead to disc separation and a loss of control. Potential units affected: 952. Remedy: dealers inspect and replace wheels as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters expected September 14, 2026. VINs searchable at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Chevrolet customer service: 800-222-1020.
This is a 2026 steel-wheel VIN check for leftover shoppers. Do not demo or take delivery of a 2026 with 26V496 still open. It does not change the 2027 NACS / RST order-guide story.
FAQ
