Leaked 2027 F-150 Order Guide Kills the 2.7 EcoBoost and Makes the 3.0 the Volume Engine

A 49-page dealer order guide circulating late July deletes the 2.7 EcoBoost and makes the 3.0 EcoBoost the volume engine on XL, STX, XLT, and some Lariat. Ford has not published 2027 horsepower, tow, or price, and has not announced the 2027 F-150. Last year's 2.7 plus Tow/Haul is not a 2027 work-truck build.

Table from the circulating 49-page dealer order guide as reported by PickupTruckTalk, Ford Authority, and Car and Driver. Ford has not published a 2027 F-150 spec sheet. If a number is not in that guide as a real rating, it is Not published.

Other engines the leak still lists, as availability, not ratings: 5.0 V-8 stays on short-wheelbase regular-cab XL; optional on Tremor 401A and up; newly optional on King Ranch and Platinum. 3.5 EcoBoost and 3.5 PowerBoost remain. Raptor keeps the high-output 3.5; Raptor R keeps the supercharged 5.2. None of those 2027 outputs are published in the guide.

The 2.7-out / 3.0-in swap is document-backed, not Ford-announced. Wait for official horsepower, tow, and price before anyone orders a 2027.

Who it's for. Nobody with a deposit pen this week. The leak is useful if you were about to assume the 2026 2.7 work truck still exists. It tells you the volume engine code changed and Tow/Haul is listed off the 3.0. It does not tell you what the truck will pull, haul, or cost.

Who should skip. Anyone trying to spec a 2027 XL, STX, or XLT as if last year's 2.7 plus Tow/Haul package is still on the sheet. Anyone treating Ranger Raptor's 405 hp as an F-150 3.0 rating. Anyone treating a dealer "2027 allocation" as a certified tow rating.

What we'd actually buy. Wait. Do not order a 2027 work truck on this guide. If you need a published scorecard this month, buy a 2026 F-150 with Ford.com numbers. If you can sit until Ford publishes 2027 horsepower, tow, payload, and MSRP, sit. The document is real enough to kill the 2.7 assumption. It is not real enough to sign.

This is a leak. Ford has not announced the 2027 F-150.

A 49-page F-150 dealer order guide moved through the dealer net in late July. Ford Authority, July 31, reported the 2.7 deletion from sources familiar with the matter. PickupTruckTalk published the same day from the guide itself: 3.0 EcoBoost, option code 99C, under new/changed; 2.7 EcoBoost under deleted. Car and Driver's Caleb Miller, August 6, wrote the same swap from the dealership tool and asked Ford for comment. As of this article's date, Ford has not announced the 2027 F-150 and has not put horsepower, torque, tow, payload, or MSRP on a newsroom page.

Option codes and availability in the guide are document-backed. Performance numbers are not. A blank cell in Ford's own guide is not a rating you can shop.

AutoGuide, August 4, says 2027 F-150 customer configuration and order routing are expected in late fall 2026. Attribute that calendar to AutoGuide. It is not a Ford order-bank press release, and it is not a price.

The volume engine is now 3.0. The 2.7 is listed deleted.

PickupTruckTalk's configuration tables put the 3.0 EcoBoost as standard on XL models with 141- and 145-inch wheelbases, both STX equipment groups, all three remaining XLT groups, Lariat 500A, and Lariat 501A. That is the volume truck: the XL / STX / XLT / some-Lariat stack most retail and fleet buyers actually order.

The 2.7 is not optional on work trucks. The leak lists it deleted. There is no 2.7 row left to check.

C/D: the 3.0 is twin-turbo, derived from the 2.7, and already used in other Fords. C/D printed those other outputs so readers would not pretend the F-150 rating exists: 400 hp in Explorer, 405 hp in Ranger Raptor, 418 hp in Bronco Raptor, 383 hp in Aviator. Read that list as a family map. Do not read it as an F-150 dyno sheet. C/D itself said it does not expect the F-150 3.0 to automatically hit 400 hp, because that would sit on top of the 3.5 EcoBoost and 5.0 V-8, and even those 2027 outputs are unpublished. PickupTruckTalk printed Ranger Raptor 405 hp / 430 lb-ft as a capability demo of the engine family and immediately said that does not mean the F-150 gets those numbers. The F-150 3.0 rating is Not published.

The work-truck problem is Tow/Haul, not the displacement badge.

The shopper who lives on this story is the one who bought a 2.7 XL or STX with the Tow/Haul package last year and thinks the same build is coming back.

The guide says the full Tow/Haul Package is unavailable with the 3.0. PickupTruckTalk: buyers can still order an integrated trailer brake controller with the 3.0; they cannot combine that engine with the complete Tow/Haul Package. PTT asked Ford why. No public answer in that story.

2026 F-150 max tow of 13,500 lb on Ford.com is a 3.5 EcoBoost, properly equipped number, not a 2.7 number. The 2026 2.7's own max available tow on Ford.com is 8,400 lb. If you were shopping the cheap engine plus Tow/Haul as the work truck, the leak removes both halves of that assumption: the cheap engine code is gone, and Tow/Haul is listed off the engine that replaces it.

Do not fill the blank with last year's 2.7 tow. Do not fill it with 2026 3.5 max tow. Do not fill it with Ranger Raptor marketing. Wait for a 2027 tow chart.

The 5.0 is not dead. Raptor is not this story.

Same document, opposite direction at the top of the chart. The 5.0 V-8 stays on short-wheelbase regular-cab XL. It is optional on Tremor from 401A up. PickupTruckTalk: not on the new lower-content Tremor 400A. It is newly optional on King Ranch and Platinum, which for 2026 were 3.5 EcoBoost or PowerBoost only (C/D). Platinum Plus 703A stays hybrid-only in PTT's read of the guide.

3.5 EcoBoost and PowerBoost remain in the leak. Raptor keeps the high-output 3.5. Raptor R keeps the supercharged 5.2. Those trucks did not run the 2.7. They do not pick up the 3.0 in the coverage cited here.

The guide also streamlines packages. PTT: XLT 303A is gone (300A / 301A / 302A remain); STX FX4 201A as a standalone group is gone, with FX4 an option on STX 200A; a cheaper Tremor 400A and a cheaper Raptor 800A sit under the returning groups. That is order-sheet cleanup, not a 2027 horsepower announcement, and it is still not an MSRP.

One more restriction that will bite long-bed Lariat shoppers: PickupTruckTalk says the 3.0 is unavailable on a 4x4 Lariat with the 157-inch wheelbase. 4x4 itself is still available on the truck. The 3.0 is not available in that one Lariat long-wheelbase 4x4 cell.

Colors are in the leak. Sheetmetal is not a 2027 kit.

The guide adds Birch Sand, Neptune Blue, and Wild Green. Car and Driver: Antimatter Blue, Argon Blue, and Avalanche depart. Paint is the one 2027 change you can name without a dyno. It is not a redesign reveal. C/D noted it is unclear whether engine changes come with styling tweaks. Ford has not released a 2027 F-150 OEM photo kit. The truck in any current Ford Media still is the current-generation body, the 2026 truck you can actually walk around.

2026 F-150 on sale now (OEM / Ford.com), not 2027

These numbers are the current truck. They are 2026. They are not 2027 3.0 ratings, not 2027 tow, not 2027 MSRP. C/D's live F-150 review page still recites older 400-hp 3.5 and 430-hp hybrid lines. This table uses Ford.com's 2026 XL / specs pages, including the 382-hp 3.5 and 420-hp PowerBoost figures Ford lists for 2026.

If a dealer quotes 2026 2.7 / Tow-Haul as the 2027 work-truck build, that quote is running last year's order guide. The leak says that combo is not on the 2027 sheet.

Wait versus buy a 2026

Wait if you actually want a 2027: new volume 3.0, 5.0 back on King Ranch and Platinum, new colors. AutoGuide's late-fall 2026 order window is the earliest public calendar in the sources above. Waiting still means waiting for Ford to publish horsepower, tow, payload, and MSRP.

Buy a 2026 if you need a work truck this quarter and you need the tow number on a door sticker Ford already printed. XL starts at $39,585 on Ford.com. The 2.7 still exists on that truck. Tow/Haul is still a 2026 package. Max tow 13,500 lb and max payload 2,440 lb are 2026, properly equipped, Ford.com claims. They are not a promise the 2027 3.0 will match them.
