Ram 1500 REV Launch Slips to Mid-April 2027

A supplier memo reviewed by Automotive News puts the Ram 1500 REV’s arrival in mid-April 2027 — replacing last year’s “sometime in 2026” talk. Ram still says 2027 on the record. Range, tow, payload, and MSRP remain Not published. The calendar moved; the powertrain is still not customer-ready.

Ram 1500 REV Launch Slips to Mid-April 2027

The Ram 1500 REV’s public timing just got a date. A supplier memo reviewed by Automotive News — and reported by Car and Driver, GM Authority, and AutoGuide — puts the extended-range half-ton’s arrival in mid-April 2027. That replaces the fuzzy “sometime in 2026” line Ram left shoppers with after it killed the battery-only truck. A Ram spokesperson told Car and Driver plans remain a 2027 arrival. The calendar is clearer. Range, tow, payload, and MSRP are still Not published.

This is not an RHO story. It is a production-timing story about Stellantis’s first Ram extended-range EV, built at Sterling Heights, sharing a series-hybrid powertrain with the delayed Jeep Grand Wagoneer EREV. Mid-April 2027 is a supplier-memo date, not a window sticker for capability.

TruckDaily take

Who this is for. Shoppers who were holding a 2026 allocation fantasy for the REV, dealers asking when Sterling Heights actually builds it, and anyone confusing this truck with an RHO or a dead battery-only Ram 1500 EV.

Who should skip the hype. Skip if you need published range, tow, payload, or price before you care. Those cells are empty. Skip treating mid-April 2027 as a guarantee — it is a supplier-memo date that Ram has only matched at the “2027” year level on the record.

What we’d do. Put mid-April 2027 on the calendar as the reported target, keep Ram’s “2027 arrival” quote next to it, and leave capability blank. We would not order a trailer or a duty cycle against numbers Stellantis has not printed.

From “sometime in 2026” to a spring date

Car and Driver traces the slip: when Ram canceled the fully electric pickup, the plug-in / extended-range truck moved to “sometime in 2026.” The Automotive News supplier memo now names mid-April. AutoGuide calls that roughly nine months later than the prior plan and puts production in spring 2027. GM Authority says the truck had most recently been aimed at a mid-2026 launch.

Ram’s public answer to Car and Driver does not say “mid-April.” It says plans continue to be a 2027 arrival. Stellantis told Automotive News both Jeep and Ram are on track as planned — Jeep this year, Ram for 2027. The memo is more specific than the spokespeople. Shoppers should hold both lines: year-level confirmation from Ram, month-level reporting from the supplier memo.

What kind of truck this is (reported, not stickered)

C/D, GMA, and AutoGuide describe the same layout: a 400-volt battery and electric motors drive the truck; a 3.6-liter Pentastar runs a generator and does not send power to the wheels. That is a series plug-in / extended-range setup, not a conventional parallel hybrid and not the canceled battery-only REV. It shares that hardware path with the Grand Wagoneer EREV, which is why both programs moved together.

None of that reporting fills in EPA range, conventional or fifth-wheel tow, payload, or MSRP. Leave those Not published. Old Ramcharger teaser figures and third-party estimates are not a 2027 window sticker. Leave range, tow, payload, and price blank until Ram prints them.

FAQ

When does the Ram 1500 REV go on sale?

A supplier memo reported by Automotive News and relayed by Car and Driver, GM Authority, and AutoGuide points to mid-April 2027. A Ram spokesperson told Car and Driver plans remain a 2027 arrival.

Is this still a 2026 truck?

Not on this schedule. The prior “sometime in 2026” line is what mid-April 2027 replaces in the reporting.

Where is it built?

Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan, per GM Authority’s write-up of the AN reporting.

Does the Pentastar drive the wheels?

As reported: no. The 3.6-liter V-6 feeds a generator; electric motors drive the truck. That is the EREV / series-hybrid layout described by C/D, GMA, and AutoGuide.

Has Ram published REV range, tow, or price?

No. Range, towing, payload, and starting MSRP are Not published on this page. Ram has not published them.
