Westin HDX: Best Truck Grille Guard

For you if: you drive a 2021–2026 F-150 trim Westin lists for 57-4065, and you want a 1-piece wraparound HDX guard with punch-plate grille and welded headlight guards.

Skip this guide if: you have a Raptor, Platinum, or Lightning EV in the exclude set for this kit family. Skip if you only want a thin mesh grille insert or a full aftermarket bumper. Skip if you need stainless polished HDX with the lifetime finish warranty — that is a different finish path on Westin’s HDX family, not this black powder-coat steel model. A grille guard is front protection that mounts ahead of the grille and headlights. It is not a winch bumper with a receiver. It is not a skid plate alone. Shoppers who land here usually want brush and trail debris off the grille and lamps, or a ranch look with real tube and punch plate.

1-piece vs multi-piece

Westin lists fully welded 1-piece on this HDX. That means the main guard arrives as one welded assembly rather than a kit of loose tubes you assemble into the look. Mount kit and hardware still install to the truck. Westin doesn’t list an assembly weight for 57-4065, so this guide leaves that figure blank.

Tube and punch plate

Wraparound wings use heavy-duty 2 in. diameter tube. The grille face is a full punch plate. Uprights get rubber strip 1/8 in. thick and 2 3/4 in. wide. Westin also notes 1 1/4 in. tube for support wings on some applications — confirm on the install sheet for your truck before you assume every wing tube is 2 in.

Sensors

A sensor re-locator is available separately in black or polished. Factory parking sensors do not auto-work through the punch plate without that hardware. If your truck has forward sensors in the grille or bumper path this guard covers, plan the re-locator as a separate buy and read the Westin note for your year.

Black powder coat vs polished stainless

This model is black powder coat on e-coated steel with a 3-year warranty on that finish. Westin’s HDX family also offers polished 304 stainless with a lifetime finish warranty on that path. The stainless lifetime line does not apply to 57-4065. No street price frozen in the copy.

Three products collide in search.

Tubular grille guard (this guide). Steel tube wraparound with punch-plate grille and headlight guards. Westin HDX 57-4065 is that class for the F-150 trims Westin lists.

Mesh grille insert. A thin screen that bolts into or over the factory grille opening. It changes airflow looks. It is not wraparound tube protection and it is not on this buy list.

Full front bumper. A bumper replacement that may carry a winch, fog lights, and a receiver. Different mounts, different weight, different legal and sensor path. Do not treat 57-4065 as a bumper swap.

Rough Country’s mesh grille and LED bumper products stay off the picks. They are not the same product as a tubular HDX grille guard.

Buyers who want HDX usually want brush off the grille, deer and ranch debris off the lamps, or a truck that looks finished for work. Punch plate and 2 in wraparound wings are the listed protection story. They are not a rated crash structure for a highway impact — Westin doesn’t list a crash rating for 57-4065.

Parking sensors and cameras matter more than they did a decade ago. If your Lariat or King Ranch package puts sensors in the path this guard covers, budget the separate re-locator and verify the camera view after install. Tremor and XL work trucks still need the same check if the option packages put pods in the grille area.

A wraparound guard sticks out past the bumper cover. Measure garage door clearances, car-wash arches, and the angle into a steep driveway before you torque every bolt. The mount kit is included; the garage height is not. After install, walk the approach to a curb and a loading dock once — the first scrape on powder coat is usually a geometry problem, not a finish defect.

Match year and trim to Westin’s 57-4065 list. Limited stops at 2023 for that part. King Ranch, Lariat, Police Responder, SSV, Tremor, XL, and XLT run 2021–2026 on the same list.

Out for this kit family: Raptor, Platinum, and 2022+ Lightning EV per related install exclusions. Those trucks need a different Westin (or other) fitment.

Earlier F-150: 2015–2020 F-150 with front camera uses Westin 57-3935 (1-piece) on Westin’s site. 57-4065 fitment does not cover 2015–2020. 57-3935 is the related-year Westin part for 2015–2020 camera trucks, not a second brand or a second pick.

Cab, bed, and drivetrain still matter for clearance and sensor packages. Confirm the chart and the PDF for your VIN’s options before you drill or bolt.

Bolt-on with the included mount kit. Follow Westin’s sheet for 57-4065. Dry-fit before final torque. Check clearance to the hood, bumper cover, and any camera or sensor pods. If you need the sensor re-locator, buy it and install it as Westin documents — do not assume the punch plate leaves every beam path open.

After the first highway trip, recheck fasteners. Powder coat is not a license to scrape the guard on a curb and call the scratch a warranty item; Westin’s finish warranty language excludes road hazards and misuse on the terms listed with the HDX finish.

Wash the punch plate and tubes with the truck. Salt and mud collect in the plate holes. Touch up chips in the powder coat so bare steel does not start rust under the e-coat path. This black model is powder coat, not stainless polish.
