Factor 55 vs WARN: Best Winch Snatch Block

A snatch block is a pulley. It redirects the line or multiplies pull when the rigging is set for it. It is not a stretch kinetic rope and it is not a hook.

Match block to winch

WARN 92188 is printed for winches 12,000 lb and under. That lines up with a 12K winch such as WARN VR EVO 12-S 103255 on the winch guide. Factor 55 prints WLL at 2:1 and 4:1 safety factors — use the etched number that matches how you rate the recovery, and keep the rope and winch inside those limits.

Mechanical advantage

WARN says nearly 2× pull via mechanical advantage. Real double-line pull depends on fairlead, sheave angle, and how the second line returns to the vehicle. Treat “nearly 2×” as WARN’s claim, then rig carefully.

Rope and shackles

Factor 55 Pro takes rope to 7/16 in steel or synthetic and lists soft- and hard-shackle limits above. WARN Epic 92188 takes wire or synthetic. Match diameter and eye hardware before you load the block.

Use a snatch block to change pull direction around a tree or rock, or to set a double-line pull when the anchor and fairlead allow it. Skip the block if a straight line to a rated recovery point is safer and shorter. A bent cheek or glazed sheave after a shock load means retire the block.

Pair the block with a soft shackle or screw-pin shackle that fits the eye limits Factor 55 prints, or with the hardware WARN names for Epic. Side-loading the cheeks is how blocks fail early.

Universal to rope and winch class — not a truck year SKU. Confirm fairlead clearance, bumper opening, and tree-saver or anchor path. Grease the WARN pulley per the sheet; Factor 55 bearings are grease-packed and sealed on Factor 55’s product page for 00280-06.

Inspect sheave and cheeks before every pull. Match rope diameter. Keep the rope seated in the groove. Anchor to a rated point. After a hard pull, inspect for flat spots, bent cheeks, and sticky bearings. Re-grease WARN’s greaseable pulley on the schedule WARN prints.
