WARN’s new EVO winch lineup is now on sale at warn.com, with 8,000, 10,000 and 12,000-lb models priced from $649.99 with steel rope to $1,069.99 with synthetic. WARN calls EVO the evolution of its VR EVO, and the headline change is armor you can swap in five colors or pull off entirely to fit a tight bumper.

WARN has not published a press release for EVO that we could find, and it has not posted a full spec sheet for every size. The prices and features below come from WARN’s own product pages, checked November 2, 2026.

TruckDaily take

Who this is for. Truck owners shopping for a WARN in the 8,000 to 12,000-lb range who care how the winch looks on the bumper, or who need to squeeze it into a tight mount.

Who should skip. Anyone who just wants the cheapest WARN that pulls the load. The VR EVO is still listed on warn.com and costs $120 to $270 less, size for size.

What we’d do. Size the winch to your truck first, not the price tag. On paper, VR EVO already has the IP68 rating, the 2-in-1 remote and the same 90 feet of 3/8-inch synthetic rope, so the extra money for EVO mostly buys the new armor. If that matters to you, EVO makes sense. If it does not, buy a VR EVO while warn.com still lists it, and spend the difference on a good snatch block and shackles.

WARN EVO prices vs. VR EVO

Rating EVO steel EVO synthetic VR EVO steel VR EVO synthetic
8,000 lb $649.99 $869.99 $499.99 $649.99
10,000 lb $719.99 $949.99 $599.99 $729.99
12,000 lb $849.99 $1,069.99 $649.99 $799.99

All prices are WARN’s listed prices on warn.com on November 2, 2026. Dealers and online retailers can charge more or less.

What EVO brings over VR EVO

The armor is the story. WARN says EVO’s armor protects the winch and helps shed heat, and it comes off completely if you need a smaller package behind a bumper. WARN sells powder-coated color kits in gray, blue, green, yellow and red for $99.99 on warn.com, and says the kits fit EVO winches only. Logo decals in four colors are listed separately.

The rest of the list will look familiar to VR EVO shoppers. WARN lists IP68 waterproofing and a 2-in-1 remote that works plugged in or wireless on both lines, and synthetic models of both come with 90 feet of 3/8-inch synthetic rope and a black hawse fairlead. EVO synthetic models also list a forged black hook. WARN’s spec sheet for the 8,000-lb EVO lists a three-stage planetary geartrain and a 12-volt series-wound motor. WARN also claims best-in-class line speed for EVO, but it has not posted line-speed figures for every size, so we are not repeating a number here.

WARN lists the EVO warranty as limited-lifetime on mechanical parts and seven years on electrical parts. The VR EVO page also promises a limited lifetime warranty, so do not count warranty as the reason to pay more.

Picking a size

WARN’s sizing rule is a winch rated at least 1.5 times your vehicle’s gross vehicle weight rating, which you will find on the door jamb sticker. Do that math with your own truck’s number, round up to the next EVO size, and make sure your bumper or winch mount is rated for the load.
